<INTODUCTION>
A Buddhist Tantric text, rGyud nyi zla kha sbyor(Embrace
of the Sun and the Moon Tantra), states:
If [historical] background is not explained
Even the most definitive of Tantric teachings
Will be received with cynicism and disbelief.
This clearly emphasizes the need to present a
clear and unambiguous background of any project, and its aims
and objectives. To not explain the purpose and goals clearly would
make people find it difficult to generate trust and confidence
in the project.
I therefore would firstly like to reveal whos
motivation that led to the conception of this project.
We humans, for the sake of finding pleasure and
joy through wealth and prosperity, have striven industriously
in various activities such as business and handicrafts. However,
even if we were to become so rich to be able to buy this entire
global world all to oneself, what use will there be of it, for
when all we need is a stomach full of food and a shelter to live.
This, no wonder, even the animals can find. Endowed with a sharp
intellect and sensible heart, if we fail to put ourselves in the
service of others, we are no better than the animals.
That we are capable of making our life worthwhile
by serving others is well proven by hundreds of great beings and
our wise ancestors, who have endured great hardships for the good
of the humankind in particular and all sentient beings in general.
Thus given these, I feel a great of responsibility to help fulfil
the dreams and desires of others through a peaceful and non-violent
means. Of course as a human and move as a Buddhist monk, I resolve
to work, Under all circumstances and endure all hardships, to
benefit others and help alleviate their difficulties.
In this world, despite the unprecedented progress
made in the field of medicine, there are still millions of people
inflicted by pain and anguish caused by a hundred dreadful illness
and diseases. I have seen them strike my family, and others including
my neighbours. At pained me so intensely, that I began to look
for means to relieve and alleviate their pain. And those of all
others. Although to work on a large-scale would be too testing
for me, I resolved to begin from Dankhok, a small village near
the Drichu River in Eastern Tibet.
